Restart the printer
A printer can get errors when it gets any runtime errors. This issue usually appears when the user sends a new command like scanning when the printer has lots of pending print jobs. Some of the printer services stop working. To resolve the error, you have to restart the printer from the beginning. Go to the printer and remove the power cable when the printer is on. Wait for 5 seconds and reconnect the cable to your HP printer. Your printer must start automatically and the services should run from the beginning. Now go to the PC and check for the HP printer status. If the printer is available, send the print commands and take your printouts easily.
Check the printer driver
The offline error occurs when the HP printer can’t find the required software. Every printer needs a driver/software that can communicate with the PC. Without this driver, the HP printer can’t read any of your print commands. Check the model number of your HP printer. Now go to your computer and search for the driver. Click on the printer driver and check for a new update.
If the update is available; install it immediately. After updating, restart the computer and reconnect the HP printer. Your device will start receiving commands after finding the printer driver. But when you don’t have the correct driver; install it. Go to the HP website and search for the driver of your printer model. Install the setup and wait until the printer recognizes the driver. Now it will communicate with the device and take the print commands.
Reset the HP printer
If your printer is showing offline errors after changing some settings; undo them. Reverting those changes will resolve the error. But most users forget the inbuilt settings of the printer. Instead of reverting the changes; you have to reset the HP printer. Use the factory reset option only when you know the HP printer setup.
After the factory reset, you have to re-configure your HP printer to all devices. Go to the HP printer and turn it off. Remove its power cable and wait for about 30 seconds. Now reconnect the cable and press the power button. Press and hold the resume button for about 10 seconds.
The printer’s attention light will glow; release the resume button. The printer’s ready and the attention light will blink while resetting it. After the factory reset, your printer will start automatically. Go to the printer and start configuring it to the PC. After completing the configuration, your printer will show available status and now you can take the printouts.
Reconnect the printer
Sometimes the printer connection gets disturbed automatically. When the HP printer is offline; you should try to reconnect it. Reconnecting the printer may resolve your offline error. Go to the printer and eject the USB cable. Now check the ends of the cable for any damage.
If the cable is loose; use another USB cable to connect the printer. Try to use another USB port for connecting the printer cable. Now go to the computer and check the status of your HP printer. For the wireless HP printer connection, you have to check for Wi-Fi functions. Ensure that Wi-Fi is working on both systems. In case the printer is connected to the network; you have to check for the router.
Go to the router and restart it. Now reconnect the printer to your router. HP printer Wi-Fi lamp will start blinking to find the network. Connect the printer to the router and now go to the connected PC. Start searching for a printer. You will get an HP printer on the available devices list. Click on HP printer and choose Add Device. Ensure that you have installed the printer driver on that PC. Now open the document and click on the Print button. Your HP printer will start printing your documents.
Check the cartridges
The printer starts showing an error when it can’t find the required cartridges. Go to the HP printer and check for the installed cartridges. If the cartridge is empty then remove it and install a new one. Before installing a new cartridge; remove the plastic protective tapes.
Your printer can show errors when you are installing a clone cartridge. Install only the original cartridge on the printer. If the original cartridge is costly then refill your old cartridge. Now install it on the printer and check the error message.
Disable the firewall
If the printer is showing an offline error on network printing; check for the firewall. Disable the firewall on the network temporarily. Resend the printer’s connection request to the network. Now the network will accept the request and the printer will get connected to the network. In case you use the printer on the network often; add the printer to the trusted devices list.
